In this section, I made a online questionaire for more convincing feedback. 33 people filled in the questionaire including 23 males and 10 females. The questions were set as follows:

1. Do you drive a car? Why or why not?
2. Would you be interested in having an autonomous vehicle? Why or why not?
3. Why would you like/dislike an autonomous vehicle?
4. What are your expectations of autonomous vehicles?

Here is the results and brief summary:

1.

Chart 1

Among the 33 interviewees, 5 own private cars while others don't. This is reasonable because the majority of interviews are students and they can't afford a car.

2. 

As for their feelings on buying an autonomous vehicle, half of the interviewees expressed their interests on it while others are unwilling to do so. The charts below explain their choices well.

In Chart 2 and Chart 3, interviewees are provided with certain options and they are free to choose up to 3 of them. A number of people want to own an autonomous vehicle out of curiosity. Others hold a conservative attitudes towards AV with concern on price and safety.

The chart above shows people's expectations of AV. Interviewees can choose up to 3 of the options. The proportion of safety guarantee shows people's high expectation on autonomous vehicle's  reactions on emergency. Also, use of new energy represents people's awareness of the need for alternative power nowadays. Last but not least, smart internet is what people keep in their mind when evaluating a autonomous vehicle.

Despite autonomous vehicles having a promising future, we shouldn't neglect the fact that legal framework that should govern them is not synchronous with the technological advances. This blog discusses the legal dimensions involving autonomous vehicles.    The legal status of autonomous vehicles The public and governments are not sure about the reliability of the new technology  and thus hold a relatively conservative attitude towards it. Take U.S. as an example, California and Florida are the only two states enacted and chaptered bills related to autonomous vehicles back to 2012. However, things have changed a lot now. 1.Generalization of technologies on autonomous vehicles Technologies on autonomous vehicles Camera: Cameras are used on autonomous vehicles to collect image of road users, traffic signs and other obstacles. Lidar: Lidar generates 3D geoinformation mapping by comparing the differences of sent pulses and reflected pulses in laser return times and wavelength. GPS (Global Positioning System): The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a technology that utilizes three or more satellites to transmit precise signals, allowing GPS receivers to calculate and display accurate location, speed, and time information. Infrared: Infrared technology will find contrasts and contours of obstacles well beyond that of a camera. DMS (Driving Monitoring System): when danger is detected, the DMS notify the driver with flash or sounds if the sensor found the driver is focused on the road while swith on security mode if the driver is absent-minded. Introduction

1.     SAE classifications level 0: No Driving Automation at all. The driver performs the entire dynamic driving task (DDT), even if there are warnings that pop up such as a Check Engine light. level 1: Driver Assistance. The vehicle can assist with steering or speed in certain circumstances, but the human is still fully in charge of driving. level 2: Partial Driving Automation. The vehicle can take over steering and speed altogether in certain circumstances, but the human is still fully in charge of driving. level 3: Conditional Driving Automation. The vehicle steers, takes care of speed and monitors the road. The human is still required to take over when the system needs help. level 4: High Driving Automation.
